Tonight! Terryl Givens and Rosalynde Welch Discuss The Gold Plates
7PM at The Compass or Livestreamed
Tonight, Feb. 20th, Terryl Givens will be joined by Maxwell Institute scholar Rosalynde Welch to explore the origins of the Book of Mormon with questions such as:
What is the relevance of gold plates today?
Does their materiality matter?
Did Joseph use them to translate?
Why did they disappear from the story?
Is history as theology perilous?
This event is a continuation of The Big Questions, a new Faith Matters series of conversations that seek to expand and deepen our understanding of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. We invite you to participate, either in person or virtually, as we discuss some of the most fascinating theological and historical questions that will come up during this year’s study of the Doctrine and Covenants. We hope you find these conversations enriching and supportive as you walk the journey of faith.
In-person attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of these remarkable scholars. It’s an opportunity you won’t want to miss! Tickets are $25 per person or purchase a package to the series here and save. We offer 6 sessions for $125 (1 free) or 12 sessions for $225 (3 free).
Friends of Faith Matters will get automatic access to the livestream and recordings for free as part of a new app Faith Matters is launching—stay tuned for details, and click here to become a Friend of Faith Matters.
