Ariel Bybee Laughton is an independent scholar in Houston, Texas. She holds a B.A. in History from Brigham Young University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Early Christianity from Duke University. Her research and writing focus on the writings of the early Christian Fathers and women, gender, and sexuality in the early Christian church. She has also published on women's ecclesiastical offices in early Christianity, the Great Apostasy narrative in the LDS Church, and LDS atonement theory.
