Not long ago, scholar and writer Terryl Givens sat down with Elder Marlin K. Jensen, for a wonderful, wide-ranging conversation entitled “A Disciple’s Plea for Openness and Inclusion”.

Elder Jensen served the church as both a General Authority and as the official Church Historian. You can enjoy the full conversation HERE.

This Sunday morning, we share a portion of the conversation in which they begin to explore how the church is coming to more fully understand Christ’s atonement.

Who is the Christ of the Restoration?

Have we taken an unbalanced, perhaps even unhealthy, approach to understanding Atonement—an approach that has relied too much on intellectual study and not enough on personal experience and “acquaintance” with Christ?

Dr. Givens and Elder Jensen explore this question and much more. We offer this as an invitation to a deeper meditation on our “acquaintance” with Christ.

Good Sabbath to you all!
